One Dead and 14 Injured in Commuter Trains Collision Near Munich on V-Day
INTERNATIONAL: At least one person has died and several were injured when two commuter trains collided at a train station in the Southern German town of Schaeftlarn near Munich on Monday ,February 14.
The accident happened in the late afternoon at train station of Ebenhausen-Schaeftlarn southwest of the Bavarian capital.
Munich police spokesperson Andreas Franken has said, "The trains have been travelling here on a single-track, they collided head-on with each other. According to what we know so far, we are dealing with 14 injured people. Unfortunately, we also have to report one dead person. But there are up to 80 passengers." he has added.
Due to the large rescue operation a part of the rail track had to be completely closed temporarily.

Knife-wielding man at Paris train station shot dead by police on Monday, February 14. The man has attacked police officers on patrol at Gare du Nord station early on Monday morning.
The incident was not thought to be terrorist-related.
It is apparently someone who is known to police for wandering around the train station and would have assaulted them using a knife, which lead law enforcement to use their weapon.
Gare du Nord is one of Europe's biggest train stations and home to international train services connecting to Britain and Belgium. The incident had caused major traffic disruptions on Monday morning.
Worries over violent crime and terrorism are among key concerns for French voters, as people prepare to go to the polls for April's presidential election.
At Least Seven People Killed in Explosion and Fire in Southern France
At least seven people, including two children, have been killed in an explosion and subsequent fire that have occurred in apartment buildings in southern France on Monday.
Officials said a search is ongoing for at least two people who are missing.
Firefighters have said that the incident took place in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department.
French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin went to the site in the town of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque and has said about 30 people were wounded or suffered psychological trauma in the explosion that occurred around 2 a.m.
The explosion has occurred on the ground floor of a two-story building, which was a grocery-sandwich bar. The fire then spread to neighboring buildings.
Perpignan prosecutor Jean-David Cavaillé has said it's too early to know what caused the explosion but he mentioned the possibility that gas cylinders may have been present in the shop. An investigation is underway.
